Corporate-Social-Responsibilities (CSR)


CSR is the continuing  commitment by a business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development, while improving the quality of life of its workforce and their families as well as the local community and society at large.

More than ever a Company needs to be aware of the impact its operation, product and interaction with key stakeholders ( employees, customers, investors, local communities, suppliers etc.) has on developing and improving business strengths, and on creating added value, economic and social benefits. In both the short and the long term, it is therefore important for the Company to focus on CSR as a key element in its stratergy.

WASTE MANAGEMENT - AN IMPORTANT ENVIRONMENT ISSUE WITHIN CSR.

 Waste generation and disposal are regular issues in our society. Valuable and irreplaceable resources are lost by disposal to landfill, unauthorized recyclers or incineration instead of  being recycle, such as precious metals and plastics derived from fossil-based sources. Large amounts of energy are used to create materials from new, increasing greenhouse gas generation, instead of lower energy input needed for re-processing many materials. Our water, air and land are being polluted by landfill gas and leachate, and by emissions from incinerators.

India generated 3.3 lakh tonnes e-waste in 2007 and is expected to touch 4.7 lakh tonnes by 2011.
The illegal import of e-waste from abroad added another 50 tonnes to the indian-origined. 
Other findings of the study were that out of the material entering the waste stream, only 5% is recycled by authorized recyclers. 
But as only 6% of the organizations observed for the study had a disposal policy for e-waste
Unorganized recycling e-waste can result in toxic emissions to the air, water and soil and pose a serious health and environmental hazard. Some of the recycling processes are extremely harmful and have negative impacts on the workers‘ health and the environment.
